Inspired by the need to get as many nutrient dense ingredients into a smoothie my poor sick kid would actually enjoy and finish, this Cinnamon Bun Smoothie was all of those things! I mean can you ever say no to that person standing out front of the cinnamon bun shop handing out samples?! My husband makes a point of going by that part of the mall every time for that reason I swear 😉
Although my little guy rarely ever turns down a smoothie, today I needed all of the help I could get. The joys of having your child in daycare, they bring home everything, and what we thought was just a touch of diaper washed escalated quickly overnight into a full spread case of foot hand and mouth and some pretty awful mouth sores.
I wanted to make him something soothing and not on the acidic side, which can be sometimes with fruit smoothies. This Cinnamon bun smoothie was the perfect option. He inhaled it which made me so happy knowing now why his appetite has been so off the last couple of days and I was relieved knowing it was packed with good ingredients and coconut water to keep him well hydrated.
That’s just my story for how it came about but this smoothie is really good for any day, not just the ones like we’re having today. Both my husband and I LOVED it as well and it just happens to be perfect for this time of year too. Fall and cinnamon just go together in my opinion!

- Fibrous dates
- Oats, healthy grains
- Hydrating coconut water
- Hemp Seeds, high in essential fatty acids
- Coconut butter, a good source or healthy fats and fibre
- Cinnamon, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, plus so many more benefits!
Healthy Cinnamon Bun Smoothie
Dessert for breakfast! And the best part, this Cinnamon Bun Smoothie is made from healthy whole food ingredients!
- Yield: 2 Large Smoothies
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 4 Dates (Soak in water if not soft)
- 1 Cup of Vanilla Yogurt
- 1 Cup of Coconut Water
- 1/2 Tsp of Vanilla Extract
- 1 Tsp of Cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp of Coconut Butter
- 1 Tbsp of Hemp Seeds
- 1/4 Cup of Rolled Oats
- 1/2 Cup of Ice Cubs
- 1 Scoop of Vanilla Protein Powder (optional)
- Add all ingredients to a high speed blender until fully combined
- Pour into two large glasses and enjoy!
