Savoury Apple and Cheddar Galette

This savoury apple galette is the perfect way to enjoy those in season apples at the moment! Made with sharp cheddar and an easy flaky galette dough made easy in the food processor. Galette dough recipe from Foolproof Living


Galette Dough (Foolproof Living’s Foolproof Galette Dough Recipe)




  1. Add flour and salt to a food processor and pulse a couple times until combined
  2. Then add cold butter to the food processor and pulse 6-8 times or until combines and crumbly
  3. One by one by the Tbsp, add iced cold water just until the dough is formed
  4. Remove and place on a floured surface. Form dough into a ball and flattened into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for an hour before use
  5. While dough is chilling, add apple slice to a large bowl and using a spoon toss in the apple sauce
  6. Preheat oven to 375F
  7. Once the dough has chilled, roll it out on a well floured surface into a large roughed circle (don’t make the dough too thin!) then transfer to parchment paper
  8. Place 1/2 the shredded cheddar in the centre of the dough, leaving about a 3 inch border around
  9. Layer overlapping apples onto of cheddar and roll the edges of the dough, folding over as you form the crust.
  10. Brush the edges with egg wash or buttermilk (I used buttermilk because I had it on hand)
  11. Spread the rest of the cheddar over top with a bit on the edges
  12. Place the apple galette in the oven and allow to bake for roughly 45 minutes or until the dough is slightly browned and flaky
  13. Allow to cool on a cooling rack for 20 minutes before serving. Slice and garnish with fresh thyme
